Update: It’s important to point out many people are calling this video out for being fake. If you fast forward to the 5m 30 mark you can see the shadow around the edge of the phone suddenly change. This happens just at the point where the loading bar has finished filling up and it switches to the Apple logo to signal a successful boot.
There’s been a hangup with the last release of iOS when it comes to jailbreaking. Untethered jailbreak has escaped the eager hands of users for some time, while even tethered jailbreak for the iPad Mini has yet to happen. Out of nowhere, Dream Jailbreak has surfaced and announced a plan to release a nearly universal jailbreak for iDevices.
The Dream Jailbreak is designed to work on Windows and MacOS, and will support everything capable of running iOS 6. This includes Everything from the iPhone 3Gs to the iPhone 5, iPod Touch gen4 and up, iPad gen2 and up, and the iPad Mini. This exploit isn’t a one-click procedure, but the developer has made the process as simple as possible. Essentially, you need to activate a web exploit that the developer found, which can be accessed by going to a website that will be announced at a later date.
The exploit page opens the iDevice to the exploit that will run on your computer, which begins the jailbreak process. The jailbreak will take a few minutes to work, though while it is happening you are shown sprawling code and a progress bar. At the end of the progress bar the iDevice reboots, and you are met with Cydia to signify the complete jailbreak.
There’s not a lot known about the developer, other than his insistence that he is not part of any team that has been responsible for jailbreaks in the past. Dream Jailbreak is expected to be released to the public on December 22nd for both Windows and MacOS. Until the jailbreak tool itself is released it is impossible to know whether or not this is real, but the videos produced by Dream seem completely legitimate.
